Hi Adventure Philanthropists, This week’s BIG NEWS is the launch of my book: Adventure Philanthropist: Great Adventures Volunteering Abroad! I am literally over the moon!
And now for the articles this week: New: Support for Victims Typhoon Yolanda Earlier this week the Philippines suffered the effects of Typhoon Yolanda, one of the strongest recorded storms in history. There are an estimated 10,000 dead and 670,000 people displaced by the storm. Here’s how we can help with immediate relief needs and how I’m supporting longer-term recovery efforts. Favorite: Inside the Tea House, Nepal We had fairly humble quarters during our “tea house trek” to Annapurna Base Camp in Nepal’s mighty Himalayas. While sometimes short on amenities (like a clean pillow), the trek was long on amazing mountain vistas – especially on a clear morning! Here’s a peek at my nightly accommodations during the 12-day hike. Photo of the Week: Tikal, Mayan Ruins, Guatemala I took this photo several years ago when visiting the Mayan ruins in Guatemala. We met our personal guide at dawn to explore the ruins in near solitude, giving us the chance to truly appreciate the sanctity of the relics and marvel at how the ancient structures emerge from the surrounding jungle.
