Hi Adventure Philanthropists,

A new reading engagement has just been added to my November line up! Instead of a formal presentation, this will be a more intimate reading and conversation. Come on out and bring your friends to:

Wednesday, Nov. 12 @ 7:00 pm at A Great Good Place – Oakland

And don’t forget about Sacramento this Tuesday. Go and vote, then come and learn “How to Live an Adventure Philanthropist Life!”

Tues., Nov. 4 @ 7:00 pm at REI - Sacramento

And now for the articles this week:

New > Smells Like Teen Spirit – Volunteering Video

Youth volunteering is on the rise with 55% of 13-18 year olds contributing to their local communities. Meet some of these young Adventure Philanthropists and hear why they’re rolling up their sleeves to help out…

Favorite > How to Cope with Terrifying Traffic

Or “How the chicken crossed the road.” Yes, you’d think crossing the street would be basic, but not in Vietnam’s manic traffic — with more than 20 million motor bikes on the road. Seriously, a major intersection is a major deal. And an intersection with a round-about? Forgettaboutit!

Photo of the Week > Shwedagon Pagoda, Burma

This shot was taken at night as I wandered around the Shwedagon Pagoda in the heart of Burma’s capitol Rangoon. For Burmese, this is their most sacred pagoda. Legend has it that it is 2,600 years old, which would make it the oldest pagoda in the world.
