New > My Boat Abode

I was visiting a friend at his music studio on the NorCal coast, when I spied an old wooden boat in the back garden. I knew then that this was my next abode. Six weeks later, I am fully ensconced in a week-long writing retreat. Welcome to my secret garden…

Favorite > Saving Big Fish *Video*

Megafauna is mega cool. I mean, who wouldn’t want to work with the world’s largest sea creatures? Luckily I got to do just that during my Mozambique stop during my 2-year trek. Watch the video and find out about the super work they’re doing at the Marine Megafauna Foundation!

Photo of the Week > Colombian Children, Santa Marta Mountains

We passed through this Native American village on our 5-day hike to Colombia’s Ciudad Perdida (“The Lost City.”) The parents were off tending the fields so these children were alone in the village, minding the smaller children. They greeted us playfully, running in between their huts in an elaborate game of hide and seek.
