An advantage of visiting Lapland was the opportunity to explore a new culture: The Sámi, the Arctic’s indigenous people. Here’s a quick look at Sámi culture, and how they were treated in the past and today.

As you know, this summer I visited my friend Pirjo, who lives in Finnish Lapland. I stayed with her family at their sweet summer cottage near the town of Sodankylä.
