Cabbages & Condoms – Giving U™
What I love most about the Bangkok-based restaurant Cabbages & Condoms is that it has a sense of humor. This is obvious by the condoms throughout the restaurant, like:
• Superheroes wearing condom attire. Condom Man says “Don’t be shame, be game!” Well, something might be lost in translation there, but the message is clear.
• Framed samples of condoms from around the world. I sat under a beautiful display of condoms from Germany.
• Mosaics of colored condoms under the glass of the dining tables. It was slightly weird to look at your meal surrounded by colorful prophylactics.
• Informative world maps. Showing the rate of HIV / AIDS infection and the status of legalized abortion by country. Providing you with a ready topic of dinner conversation.
While you don’t exactly go to Cabbages & Condoms for the food, the atmosphere more than makes up for it. I consider it an excellent example of my Adventure Philanthropist living and giving philosophy: do good in the world and have a little fun along the way!
Cabbage & Condoms is located at 6 Sukhumvit 12, Klongtoey, Bangkok. Donations to support their mission of serving and assisting the rural poor of Thailand (including offering free vasectomies!) can be made via the web at: http://www.cabbagesandcondoms.com. They also have an online gift shop.
