Favorite Beaches: Top 3

I am a beach bunny to the core. I grew up within spitting distance of Malibu beach and on the Hawaiian Islands. I am an unabashed beach snob and connoisseur of sand. My judgment concerning waves is not to be questioned. Here’re my favorite all-time beaches:
Phi Phi Islands, Thailand
The Phi Phi Islands are dramatic in their beauty: the sand is unbelievably fine and white, the water a crystal clear light blue, and on top of it, you’re in Thailand! Seriously one of the best beach vacation spots to truly relax with a combination of beach lounging, Thai message, and simply floating on the waves.
Piha Beach, New Zealand

Piha is a black sand beach on the westerns shore of New Zealand’s north island. Its waves can be massive and their lifeguards are known for their brave rescues.
The water is usually pretty cold, so swimming (and the dangerous surf) keep most people on the shore. Just further up at the tip of the north island is where the Tasman Sea and the Pacific Ocean meet — the only place in the world where you can see the waves of two bodies of water crash against one another.
Cool.
Apia, Western Samoa
These Pacific islands are completely remote — isolated not only by location, but also in the preservation of the Samoan island lifestyle. And let’s face it, I’m also a sucker for the Samoan people.
You gotta love a population that is as welcoming to mafus (cross-dressers), as they are proud of the ferocity of their football players.
And don’t get me started on those full thigh tattoos.
