Two weeks ago my friend Tammy got a new job – cause for celebration! She turned to me and said “We should go on a trip before I start” – Say no more!
3 days later, we were booked on a week-long sojourn to London to visit Wimbledon and watch the World Cup. (We were having this conversation after a fierce doubles match, so tennis was on the brain).
I arrive yesterday on the red eye, a full day early so I could do a bit of touring on my own. More than 6 hours and 2 tube rides later, I had hopped on and off the bus several times, covering South Kensington to the West End, and taken a river tour down the Thames.
I now had the lay of the land and several pubs picked out so we could watch the England vs. Slovenia match — which is playing this afternoon at the same time as the U.S. vs. Algeria match— talk about divided loyalties!
Never mind, I’m sure we won’t even find the Yank soccer match televised anywhere…and when you come right down to it, beer is beer. Cheers!
