GoErinGo Donates a House! *Video* – Giving U™
In May, the GoErinGo! Fund will donate $2,500 to build a house in a Gawad Kalinga community. You choose which will be the location of the new GoErinGo house for one deserving Filipino family!
Gawan Kalinga, meaning “to give care” in Tagalog, is an international nonprofit organization based in Manila that not only builds houses for families, but builds entire communities. Each community housing project – some consisting of 1,000 homes – are augmented by pre-schools, health care clinics, vocational training centers, and community activity centers and gardens.
While in Manila, I was lucky enough to spend two days visiting 4 communities including homes in Taguig and Quezon City. I was taken around by a fellow volunteer named Toby– quite the enthusiastic youth!
I got to meet other interested volunteers, view an end-of-school year dance show (watch thechildren of Paradise Heights boogie!), and witness builders from a local university transforming neighborhoods!
GK operates throughout the Philippines, Cambodia and Indonesia, has offices in the U.S. and Canada, and is expanding soon to Europe and Australia. Learn more about Gawad Kalinga! Or make a donation yourself!
Help us provide a new home – and a new life — for a family. Vote today!
p.s. Here’s a picture of me and my friend Walter in the Quezon City GK neighborhood — in front of the Obama Store!
