Inside the Tea House
We had fairly humble quarters during our “tea house trek” to Annapurna Base Camp. While sometimes short on amenities (like a clean pillow), the trek was long on amazing mountain vistas – especially on a clear morning!
Here’s a peek at my nightly accommodations during the 12-day hike. We started in Nayapul, altitude 1,070 meters:
Night #1: Hile, altitude 1,430 meters
Night #2: Ghorepani, altitude 2,860 meters
Night #3: Thulo Odor, altitude 3,180 meters
Night #4: Ghandruk, altitude 1,940 meters
Night #5: Chhomrong, altitude 2,170 meters
Night #6: Bamboo, altitude 2,310 meters
Night #7: Deurali, altitude 3,200 meters
Night #8: Annapurna Base Camp, altitude 4,130 meters
Night #9: Bamboo, altitude 2,310 meters
Night #10: Jhinu, altitude 1,780 meters
Night #11: Bhichwok Deurali, altitude 2,100 meters
Night #12: Pokhara, altitude 1,336 meters
Despite the cramped quarters, wooden box springs, and squat toilets, I slept like a log each night. Must’ve been the “average of 6 hours” of hiking each day!

Yes Erin!
I remember every spot, and I slept so well too! (except ABC, I want to forget this, but this is my greatest insight of the trip: don’t climb too high, fitness doesn’t prevent AMS, become more humble about your signs and your nature!)
Love, your room mate Hilde
Hi Erin,
actually those rooms look much better on the photos!
