New Zealand’s South Island: 25 Favorite Photos
I haven’t been to New Zealand since I was 15, when I was living and going to school in Auckland. During that time, my family toured the North Island extensively, but we never made it down to the South Island.
So I was looking forward to spending a few weeks having sporting adventures the South Island. This is the environment in which NZ is most known: dramatic mountain vistas and seascapes. I was also surprised by the quaint city-scapes as well.
Christchurch City Stroll
Christchurch is New Zealand South Island’s largest city and I found it full of charm. Although there were obvious signs of last September’s earthquake, the city was full of life and I thoroughly enjoyed strolling around and soaking up several glorious summer days.

Kayaking in Fiordland
Kayaking on Doubtful Sound in the Fiordland National Park was incredible! Really one of my finest adventures to date – filled with equal amounts of discomfort and amazing beauty! Just check out a few of these favs:
