Our Book Party in Laos – Giving U™

Last May the GoErinGo! Fund made a $350 donation to the Laos Literacy Project on behalf of Big Brother Mouse, a local Lao organization that provides books to children.

Even more importantly, over 150 Adventure Philanthropists – you readers of www.GoErinGo.com – voted “Yes” in our monthly Donate My Dollars poll which allowed us to increase the donation and also start a lending library for the village.

I want share an excerpt from the donation acknowledgement letter that I received last week:

Dear Erin,

We recently held a book party, and set up a book swap (what we call a mini-library), using the donation you made to Big Brother Mouse.

  • Date: Tuesday, 4 October 2011
  • Village: Ban Pakseuang, in Luang Prabang district

At the end of the party all the kids got a free book of their own, nearly always the first book they’ve ever owned. Then we left more books with the school, so they can trade their book for a different one after they’ve read it. We left a total of 250 books.

It was an exciting day for all of the children, and we expect many of them will always remember it — both because they had fun, and for the magic of opening a fun book for the first time, and discovering the new world that opens up. Thank you for making this possible!

With best wishes,

Siphone for Big Brother Mouse, www.BigBrotherMouse.com

Books for All!

I’m so proud of us and you should be too! Just think — a new library and books for all the kids! Truly a wonderful gift to give!

Thank you for participating in the Donate My Dollar poll and making it all possible!
