This poll is now closed. You Adventure Philanthropists voted for the Teen Gun Violence Project to receive $1,000 from the Go Erin Go! Fund. Nice job!

Being a teenager has never been easy, but when did it become life-threatening?

Kids today struggle with the reality of Meth addiction, AIDS, and deadly gun violence on their streets and in their schools.

How does someone so young navigate these perilous waters?  We need to help these kids understand the risks involved with their actions by providing accurate, honest information about drugs, sex, and guns. Let’s help teens make informed choices through greater education and media outreach.

This month, the Go Erin Go! Fund will donate $1,000 to one of the 3 nonprofit organizations below. Vote and choose which deserving org gets the cash! Voting will end on Oct. 25, with the winner announced on Twitter and Facebook.

Partnership for a Drug-Free America seeks to motivate and equip parents to prevent their children from using drugs and alcohol, and to find help and treatment for family and friends in trouble.  2003 stats report illicit teen drug use by 8th graders – 30.3%, 10th graders – 44.9%, and 12th graders – 52.8%.

Sex, etc. provides sex education for teens, by teens and is on a mission to improve teen sexual health across the country. Their web site and national magazine helps teens with answers to their questions about sex and relationships, pregnancy, STDs, birth control, and sexual orientation.

The Teen Gun Violence Project is developing a comprehensive media campaign addressing the issue of teen gun violence including documentary films, PSAs, music videos, and radio spots all dealing with the issue of kids killing kids with guns. 2005 stats report that 3,006 children and teens were killed by firearms. This is almost 10 kids a day.
