Donate My Dollars: June – Help Send 2 Girls to Self-Defense Summer Camp! – Giving U™

We did it Adventure Philanthropists — Thank you!

Our collective votes over the last month enabled us to give 2 scholarships — split among 4 girls — to attend a Personal Safety & Self-Defense Summer Camp!

____

Next month I’ll be volunteering for a week at Jerusalem-based El HaLev (“To the Heart”) — a non-profit working to end violence against women through self-defense and martial arts training.

The org specializes in providing personal safety instruction for at-risk populations, such as children, the elderly, and people with special needs.

Since their founding in 2003, El HaLev has taught more than 20,000 people of all backgrounds (Jewish, Christian, and Moslem) to defend themselves against sexual, physical, and verbal assault.

During my time at El HaLev, they will be hosting a Martial Arts and Personal Safety Summer Camp for Girls. The camp – run all summer long – costs about US$600 per girl.

The GoErinGo! Fund will provide sponsorship for one girl — but why not make it two?! If we receive 150 votes by July 3, the day I start my volunteering, the GoErinGo! Fund will donate an additional $600!

All you have to do is vote “Yes” – and 2 girls will receive personal safety workshop training for the summer. Vote Today!

Should we send TWO girls to self-defense summer camp?

KidPACT Workshop

During the camp, the girls will participate in a KidPACT Workshop, which is a Personal Safety Workshop for Kids. This course is modeled after the IMPACT course that I attended last winter. Did you see the video of my kick-ass training?

As you all know, IMPACT is an internationally recognized personal safety, assertiveness and self-defense training program, which is part of a comprehensive effort to prevent sexual assault and other acts of interpersonal violence and boundary violations. After attending my workshop, I am a HUGE fan of this program! Here’s my full write up on the IMPACT program.

KidPACT is a self-protection-as-a-life-skill program that teaches children awareness, confidence-building and self-protection. The program delivers a wide-range of skills in a fun, positive, high-energy atmosphere and provides strategies that boost self-esteem and self-confidence throughout childhood and into adolescence.

You can also donate through their U.S. fiscal sponsor and receive the domestic tax benefits.

It’s a great cause and I’m looking forward to joining their volunteer team in Israel in July! Stay tuned for a full report on my gig!
